Missions Team to Ecuador
Campus Life's most recent Missions
Team to Ecuador recently returned
from a wonderful time of service
and blessing. Composed of 7 teens
and 7 adults, the Team functioned
extremely well in giving of
themselves in various ways.
A
total of 22 LARGE suitcases were
taken, packed with medicine and
medical supplies, dental supplies,
educational materials, tools and
things needed for our work
projects, items sent to us to be
taken down for missionaries, and
certain food items for
missionaries not available in that
country, plus a wheelchair. One
evening we heard from a missionary
who will be taking some of the
supplies down river deep into the
jungle by canoe to villages that
have had little or not contact
with the Gospel. The medical
clinic will be a tool to build
trust and friendship with these
tribal people.
A
new recipient of some of our
"booty" was a well organized
ministry of the Alliance Academy
students to street people and
extremely needy families in Quito.
This we saw one night in action.
The wheelchair was taken for an
elderly Quichua Indian woman who
has faithfully served God since
being one of the first believers
in her tribe back in the early
50's. Today, there are estimated
to be nearly 2 million tribal
believers. The wheelchair eases
the effort and pain of her cancer
that soon will take her home.
Our work team painted a room,
whitewashed a cement wall and
interacted with the people at the
Old Folks Home. At Camp Hope, our
team built 13 chairs and 3 room
dividers; did landscape work;
worked with some severely
handicapped children; painted a
wall and furniture; plus, other
tasks. Once again we heard,
"Campus Life groups are the BEST
teams we have come. This team is
no different!"
These pictures give you a glimpse
of the Camp Hope children. We
already have begun plans for our
next trip in February, 2007. For
more information, contact Dave
Justice. He has led all 16 Campus
Life Mission Trips and would be
glad to present a program at your
Church, business or Service Club
or answer questions you may have.
