“...remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” ~Acts 20:35 NIV
Dear Campus Life Friends –
One of the huge blessings of working here at Campus Life is that we get to minister to a very wide age range of people. Little children, all the way to very senior adults, and everyone in between. Something that has really jumped out to me is how the scripture above plays out more and more as people advance in years. As one senior friend stated recently in a Bible study, “I just want to give it away. I am blessed to be a blessing to others.” Wow! What a great heart attitude. And this attitude inspires others to share in that desire to help others. This also goes with ministry volunteers here at Campus Life. Those that give their time, significant time, to minister to others. So often we’re afraid to ask people to volunteer, or we feel that we must encourage, convince, beg people to serve. However, after they start, they discover that serving others has turned into a huge
blessing - for them. I see this happen all the time, and it is so uplifting.
“I feel so blessed every time I come out of juvi. jail.”
“I can’t believe how much I learn from the ladies every time I lead a Bible study.”
“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve. I never thought I would enjoy it so much.”
“Wow! I can’t believe how God is allowing me to see Him at work in the lives of others.”
Yes, we get this a lot, and it’s great! How about you? Do you want to serve others? Contact us! We would love to help you get plugged in because...it is truly better to give than to receive.
Healthy things grow, and the ministry of Campus Life continues to grow. Each week hundreds of children, youth and adults come through our doors for programs, Bible studies, club activities and much more. Some are looking to grow in their faith, some trying to wrap their heads around what faith is, and some are just looking for a place to belong. And then there are the people that we go to, out in the community. People who are lonely, isolated, some incarcerated. As before, some are looking to grow in their faith, some trying to wrap their heads around what faith is, and some are just looking for hope. No matter the situation, we share the love of Christ with all of them and continually point them toward the cross of Jesus, the Messiah. All in an effort to help people move one step closer to Jesus. Christ centered, ministry driven.
In a week or so you should be receiving our annual Phoneless Phonathon card. Each year we attempt to gather a good portion of our annual operating budget through this year-end appeal. Our goal is to raise $50,000 which is essential for us to continue the ever growing ministries of Campus Life. Please pray and give as you are able to help us with this. Every dollar is needed, appreciated and a true blessing to the youth and families that we serve.
Please pray without ceasing…for all of the students, adults and staff that participate in Campus Life ministries. We are on the front lines in this spiritual battle for the hearts, minds and souls of today’s families. We need you and cannot do this without you. May God bless you as you are such a blessing to us.
